About me

Michal
Lapinski

I am a retired Australian psychoanalyst. This website — Michał Łapiński Studio — presents some of my psychoanalytic writing, but it mainly brings together bilingual (Polish and English) poetry, reflective prose, and visual work created over many years. I often explore themes of psychoanalysis, migration, memory, passing time, and the creative process. My writing includes reflections on contemporary clinical thinking, especially Bion’s ideas and narrative approaches to the inner world. My literary and analytic work grows out of an ongoing dialogue between languages, landscapes, and forms of expression — a dialogue shaped by living between cultures and writing across two linguistic worlds.

Although psychoanalysis forms an important background to my thinking, my creative writing remains independent in tone and purpose. I draw on personal history, observation, and imagination, engaging with questions of identity, loss, belonging, and the subtle details of everyday experience.

In a separate YouTube endeavour — Melifor Studio — I combine text, images, and sound in cross-media projects, including AI-supported illustration cycles and poetry videos.

The concept of this Studio, its origins and structure, is described on the Homepage
